Urban planners and governments are increasingly turning to technology to create 'smart cities'. It is believed that the concept of “smart city” was first used by IBM when it talked about “the ability to capture and integrate live real-world data through the use of sensors, meters, gadgets, personal devices and other similar sensors”.
